The Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, a nature reserve located on the southern Delhi Ridge of the Aravalli Range, will soon undergo a makeover. Authorities have introduced a 10-year plan that focuses on its conservation, including eco-tourism, nature walks, birdwatching, and more. Here’s everything you need to know about this plan.
Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary To Boost Eco-Tourism
The Delhi Forest Department has approved a 10-year management plan to boost conservation efforts at the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary. Spread across 32.71 sq km, the area is home to a wide variety of birds, animals, and plants. According to ThePrint, the plan has been prepared with the help of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII).
As per Hindustan Times, the new strategy focuses on improving eco-tourism in the sanctuary through better management and regular monitoring. Officials are also planning activities like thematic nature walks on birds, butterflies, pollinators, and medicinal plants of the Aravalli range. Not just that, you can also expect seasonal birdwatching camps, along with annual events like Butterfly Day and Bird Week.

Workshops, Camps, Greenhouse & More
The sanctuary’s location within the National Capital Region and near several educational and research institutions works in its favour. It will help support its development as a key eco-tourism spot. According to Hindustan Times, officials are planning to introduce photography workshops, citizen science initiatives, and school nature camps.
The plan also proposes setting up a greenhouse to conserve and showcase the plant diversity of the Aravalli range. This facility will feature rare, threatened, and ecologically important species. It will also serve as a centre for education and research.
There are also plans to set up Community Interface Committees in villages and fringe areas along the sanctuary boundary. These will help address human-wildlife interaction and spread awareness among locals.
