Summer is already here, and travellers have started planning quick escapes. People are now choosing more exciting destinations where they can enjoy experiences like music festivals, cultural events, and, of course, food hopping. Read on to know more!
What Are Travellers Looking For This Summer?
Asia is the top choice for Indian travellers this summer, and it’s easy to see why. It feels comfortable, culturally rich and easy to travel to. The food is exciting, and thanks to pop culture, many places already feel familiar. Honestly, it makes sense, why travel far when you can get such good experiences closer home?
According to NDTV, Gen Z is driving this shift in a big way. They make up over 40% of summer travel searches on Airbnb, and their interest has grown by nearly 60% from last year. For Gen Zs, travel is not just about sightseeing but about fun and memorable experiences. And let’s be real, that kind of travel sounds way more exciting than just ticking off tourist spots.

Places On Top For Summer Travel
Countries like Japan and South Korea are seeing a big rise in interest. As per NDTV, not only them, but cities like Tokyo and Osaka are trending a lot. The searches for these places have jumped over 90% and 85%. Busan is also catching attention with nearly 95% growth.
At the same time, Southeast Asia is still a favourite. Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur continue to stay popular. They are affordable, easy to travel to and feel familiar, which makes them an easy yes for many travellers.
Talking about travel plans, most people are not going solo. Around 60% are travelling with family or friends, while over 30% are planning couple trips. So clearly, travel right now is all about making memories with your people, not just the destination.
