Nakuul Mehta took to his social media account to pen a heartfelt note about his Ladakh experience that helped him slow down, reflect and reconnect with life’s simple joys. Sharing the pictures, he wrote, “It’s been a while I posted. One, my mind felt cluttered, and two, I had nothing to say. In this age of constantly pushing output, I began to feel a bit mechanised.” He further called his trip to Ladakh an “annual pilgrimage in solitude”, revealing further that he also said how his annual trip to Ladakh never disappoints. It always manages to reintroduce him to the beauty of this world, its poetry, and the human quest for meaning and, at the same time, our insignificance and mostly helped him reclaim the rhythm which has always guided me.

Sharing a beautiful story, Nakuul revealed how, during the trip, he stayed with a resident named Gyatso and his daughter Ruda at their small sanctuary called Slow Garden. He described how time moved differently there, with Gyatso managing to balance his professional life around caring for his daughter and spending quiet moments with family and their pets.

Additionally, the actor also accompanied them for a simple picnic outing in a camper van. He stated that he went off in the Gyatso camper van searching for a spot to cook ramen and sip some beer, which reminded him of one of his favourite Japanese films, The Perfect Days. “All of us hung together, doing our thing, occasionally talking about life and its meaning, rolling in the sand and making sense of what this is all about,” he wrote. Reflecting on the experience, Nakuul also shared a thought from Gyatso that stayed with him, “The only religion which makes sense to him is of kindness and no expectations. Maybe that’s enough. Maybe that’s all of it.”

Apart from enjoying life with Gyatso and his daughter, Nakuul’s Ladakh trip was full of experiences. Cooking ramen at a hilltop to having a beer with a view, the trip looked nothing but magical. Well, if you are someone who wishes to unwind and reconnect with life, then Ladakh is your go-to destination for it.
