Often typos on visas or tickets in terms of date of birth or names of the traveller can cause some major delays or hurdles when travelling. In a news report by Khaleej Times, it was revealed that people should often doublecheck every minute detail on their passports, tickets, and even visas. Recently, a group of 22 people who were travelling from India to Dubai had to return home from the airport as one of the family members had a typo in their date of birth. Instead of 1983, it was misprinted as 1988. As a result, the entire group decided to postpone the travel as they were not willing to leave behind even a single member of the group. To avoid such cases of inconvenience, one must always ensure that all the details entered on the tickets visas, or even the passport, are absolutely correct.

As agents are also human beings who might make mistakes while entering initials, such as Mr or Mrs or even the spelling of certain names. So, it is advisable that passengers check all the details carefully before travelling. However, in case such a situation arises where something has been misprinted, a traveller must contact their agent six to eight hours before the departure time. This allows the agents to get the spellings rectified with the airline. But, this is different in the case of visas, as a person may have to postpone the travel plans by at least a single day in case of a typo.

So, the next time you decide to travel, do ensure that all the details mentioned in your tickets, passports, and visas are absolutely correct. After all, it doesn’t take much to spend an extra five minutes re-checking all the details than postponing your entire trip and spending extra on travelling expenses.
