Content creator Henanshi Sanghvi (@mylifeashenu) took to Instagram to share her experience of travelling on the Budapest metro. She revealed that on the very first day of her trip, she ended up paying a ₹3,800 fine because of a metro ticket mistake.
In the video, Henanshi explained that she tapped her bank card once to buy a metro ticket. Believing they could purchase a second ticket, they tapped the same card again. However, they did not realise that the second tap did not generate another valid ticket.
After they reached their destination, a ticket inspector stopped them and asked to check their tickets. When Henanshi showed the bank card they had used, the inspector found that only one valid ticket was linked to it. Although they explained that they were visiting Budapest for the first time and were unfamiliar with the ticketing system, the authorities still issued them a fine.

What Is The Card Rule For Metro Train Tickets?
In the caption, the content creator also advised travellers to use the official BudapestGO app to buy metro tickets. Also, there is a 24-hour travel pass for 2,750 Hungarian Forints (₹ 800), which provides unlimited travel on Budapest’s metros, buses and trams for an entire day.
This incident serves as a reminder that each passenger must have a separate valid metro ticket. Tapping the same card twice does not generate a second ticket. So, if you’re travelling in metro, make sure you are aware of this rule.
