Are you curious to know if liquor shops in Delhi will remain open or closed on Holi? If yes, then this is for you. It should be noted that the festival of colours is no longer part of the ‘dry days’ in Delhi. This means that you will be able to buy liquor tomorrow from the shops. Here is more on this latest update.
Liquor Shops To Remain Open In Delhi On Holi
According to a report by NDTV, Holi is not on the ‘dry days’ list in Delhi. This means that liquor shops will remain open during the festival. As per the order issued by the Delhi government in January, the Holi festival is no longer part of the dry day list. Dry days basically mean days when liquor shops are not allowed to operate.
The order issued by the Delhi government observes Republic Day, Maha Shivratri, Id-ul-Fitr, Ram Navami and Mahavir Jayanti as ‘dry days’ from the January-March period. Reportedly, for the past few decades, Holi has also considered a dry day in Delhi. But in 2022, the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party had reduced the number of dry days to just three. Now, the Bharatiya Janata Party government has also decided to remove Holi from the dry day list.

What This Means For Holi Celebrations
Dry days are usually observed to mark national holidays or certain festivals to respect the religious sentiments of people. In conclusion, the point is clear: shops will remain shut on Holi, but this year, people will be able to buy liquor for Holi parties legally and without any trouble.
Just a few days back, reports were floating that Holi would not be considered a dry day in Maharashtra. However, Maharashtra’s Excise Commissioner Rajesh Deshmukh later dismissed those reports, calling them fake and stating that there were no changes in Maharashtra’s existing liquor policy. This means that while Maharashtra will observe a dry day on Holi, Delhi this year will not.
