Gather up, football lovers! The FIFA World Cup is all set to get started, and the opening ceremony took place yesterday, June 11, 2026. This year, the ceremony was all about music, football, and impressive technology. What excited the audience most was that the opening ceremony was held in three different countries. Here’s what all happened!
Which Countries Organised The Opening Ceremonies Of FIFA World Cup?
Across the world, the opening ceremonies of the FIFA World Cup were held in Mexico, the USA, and Canada. Using the best of technology, fans got to see AI flag projections, giving a 360-degree view. Among all three places, the country that hosted one of the most historic opening ceremonies was Mexico at Estadio Azteca. This venue is known for hosting World Cup matches in 1970 and 1986.
As per Telegraph India, in Mexico, several famous international artists performed, including Shakira alongside Burna Boy. Shakira sang the official FIFA World Cup anthem, Dai Dai, live during the show. Other artists who performed at the event in Mexico were J Balvin, Danny Ocean, Belinda, Los Ángeles Azules, Alejandro Fernández, Maná, Lila Downs, and Tyla.
The event also supported the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which works to promote education. Singer J Balvin performed his popular song Que Calor and the duet Una A La Vez with Ryan Castro.

Inside Event In The USA And Canada
In Canada, the opening ceremony was held at BMO Field in Toronto. At the event, several famous artists, including Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette, set the stage on fire. Other artists who performed were Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, William Prince, Vegedream, DJ Sanjoy, and Elyanna.
Lastly, the final ceremony was held in the USA at SoFi Stadium. The event became even more exciting with performances by Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla.
