Lonavala-Karjat Landslide Disrupts Rail Services At Central Railway; See Trains Affected

Heavy rainfall in Maharashtra often disrupts travel, leaving people searching for alternative ways to reach their destinations. Now, a landslide in the Lonavala-Karjat ghat section of Maharashtra has affected railway services. Central Railway has cancelled, rescheduled, and changed the routes of several trains. Landslide Occurred On Lonavala-Karjat Route

After heavy rainfall in the region, a landslide occurred, disrupting train services on the Lonavala-Karjat route. As per Mid-Day, soon after the incident, Central Railway started restoration work on a priority basis with an aim to resume normal operations as quickly as possible.

As per Indian Railways, the middle line of the three-line ghat section was declared safe on the evening of July 7. However, restoration work on the remaining two lines is still in progress. To speed up the work, more than 1,100 workers have been deployed at the site and 6-km stretch of the Up line has been restored.

Which Trains Have Been Cancelled On Central Railway?

Due to the ongoing work, several train services have been affected. Mid-Day reported that on July 9, Central Railway cancelled the Pune-CSMT Deccan Queen, CSMT-Pune Deccan Queen, CSMT-Pune Deccan Express, Pune-CSMT Deccan Express, CSMT-Pune Intercity Express, Pune-CSMT Intercity Express, and the Sainagar Shirdi-Dadar Express.

The Dadar-Satara Express scheduled for July 10 has also been cancelled. The CSMT-Bengaluru Express, scheduled for July 9, will now begin its journey from Pune instead of CSMT. Other trains that have been rescheduled include the CSMT-Howrah Express, Hadapsar-Nanded Express, Pune-Ernakulam Express, and Pune-Ahmedabad Express.

The trains that have returned to their regular routes are the Chennai-CSMT Express, Chennai-LTT Express, Bengaluru-CSMT Express, and Bhubaneswar-CSMT Express.
