Even one wrong move inside an aircraft can put hundreds of lives at serious risk. Over the years, the aviation industry has seen many cases where a passenger’s careless act led to a major mid-air crisis. Something similar happened on a Varanasi to Mumbai Akasa Air flight on Monday, and this incident again reminded everyone how sensitive emergency exits are and why passengers must not touch them without reason. Scroll down to see what exactly happened.
Passenger Tries To Open Emergency Exit Of Akasa Air Flight

In a shocking incident, a passenger travelling on a Varanasi to Mumbai flight (QP 1497) allegedly tried to open the emergency exit cover before the plane even took off. Reason? He was just curious. During this incident, the aircraft was already running towards the runway for takeoff. This act terrified everyone, but thankfully, the crew reacted instantly.
The airline spokesperson confirmed that the passenger tried to lift the emergency exit door cover without authorisation. The cabin crew immediately stopped him. The Times of India reported that the individual was identified as Sujit Singh from Faura Badshahpur in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, and was taken off the flight as per standard airline procedure.
Flight Continued Without Any Further Disruption
After witnessing a passenger trying to open the emergency exit on Akasa Air, the crew members reported it to the captain. Taking no risk, the captain informed Air Traffic Control and decided to return the aircraft to the parking bay. All passengers were asked to step out of the aircraft so that the airline and airport security could take proper action. Security officers then detained Sujit Singh for questioning. Police then took over the case and started their investigation. The plane took off later at around 9 pm.
Phoolpur Station House Officer Praveen Kumar Singh said that the accused told them that he did this “out of curiosity.” He claimed that he wanted to check how the emergency door worked. Police have arrested him for this act.
