Police Officer Travels Without Ticket On Train

Recently, an X user, The Nalanda Index (@Nalanda_index), described an incident that happened in an Indian train. A passenger recently had a shocking encounter on a train when a police officer took a seat in an AC coach without a ticket. When asked to move, the officer refused, telling the passenger to “sit somewhere else.” The TTE was called, but the officer boldly claimed, “We don’t take tickets. We’re in government service. We travel for free,” ignoring all rules and warnings.

Even when the TTE warned that the RPF could be called, the officer refused to move, repeating, “I have a government job.” The user also added, “This isn’t authority. This is an abuse of power. When those meant to enforce the law start breaking it in public, law and order turn into a joke. Uniforms are for responsibility, not for intimidation. If this goes unchecked today, tomorrow, no honest passenger will feel safe or respected.”
