Thailand Travel Rules: Indians Can Stay Visa-Free For 30 Days; Check Cash & Documents Needed

Thailand is one of the most popular international destinations among Indian travellers, thanks to its beautiful beaches, scenic spots and affordable travel options. If you’re planning a trip there soon, there are a few important things you should know. The Embassy of India in Thailand has now issued an advisory and visa rules Indian travellers visiting Thailand. What Are The New Thailand Visa Rules For Indian Travellers?

1. Thailand Visa-Free Stay

Starting September 15, 2026, Indians visiting Thailand on an ordinary passport can travel without a visa. They can stay in Thailand for up to 30 days under the visa-exemption facility.

2. Passport Validity

Travellers must have a passport with at least six months of validity from their arrival date in Thailand. So, make sure you check your passport validity before your trip and get it renewed if needed.

3. Return Ticket & Booking Details

Indian travellers must also have a confirmed return ticket and booking details. Keep your flight, hotel and other travel documents handy before reaching Thailand.

4. Thailand Digital Arrival Card

Travellers should fill out the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) within 72 hours before arriving in Thailand. This applies to travellers arriving by air, land or sea.

5. Cash Requirement

There are also some financial requirements that Indian travellers should meet before entering the country. According to the advisory, tourists should carry at least ₹57,899 per passenger in cash.

6. Keep Your Documents Ready

Indians should make sure their visa matches the purpose of their visit. Keep all the required documents handy before reaching the immigration counter, and each passenger should carry their documents individually.

7. Travelling For Work?

If you have a job offer in Thailand, you should apply for the appropriate visa instead of using the visa-exemption facility. This is important for travellers visiting the country for work-related purposes.

8. Thailand As A Transit Point

If Thailand is only a transit point on your journey, make sure you carry the documents and visa required for your final destination. Transiting through Thailand does not remove the entry requirements of the country you are travelling to.
