Kaas Plateau To Welcome Visitors From September 1
The Kaas Plateau, also called Kaas Pathar, is a high flat land in Maharashtra, India. Right after the monsoon season, the place turns into a magical carpet of millions of colourful wildflowers and looks extremely beautiful. According to Hindustan Times, this UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site is all set to welcome tourists from September 1, 2026, ahead of the flowering season.
The Satara Forest Department, along with the Kaas Joint Forest Management Committee, has also introduced new visitor facilities. These include three new viewpoints, laterite stone pathways, a souvenir shop, a sheltered waiting area, a dedicated Hirkani room for women and a changing room.

New Viewpoints To Offer Better Views To Visitors
According to Hindustan Times, the three new viewpoints, including Mandapghal, will offer tourists a much better view of the Kaas Plateau and the flowers. The new laterite stone pathways will allow visitors to move around while protecting the seasonal flowers and vegetation on the plateau. The waiting area will provide relief during rush hours, while the Hirkani room and the changing room will address the needs of women and children.
Moreover, the department has also decided to serve tea in earthen cups instead of plastic cups to reduce plastic waste at the plateau. The Kaas Plateau draws hundreds of people from across Maharashtra and India ahead of the flowering season. This is why the Forest Department is focusing on balancing the increased rush while also protecting the plateau’s fragile ecosystem.
