Via dell’Amore in Italy, which is also known as the Path Of Love’, is now open for visitors after about 10 years. This famous hiking route is known as “the most romantic walk in the world.” In the roughly 75 miles (121 kilometers) of paths that circumnavigate the five villages that make up the Cinque Terre UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has long been the most well-liked hiking route.
Italy’s Famous Hiking Route, ‘Path Of Love, Is Now Open
Italy’s ‘Path Of Love’ was shut down following a landslide in 2012. But after extensive renovations, the first section has reopened for a summer preview that will last through September 30.
Via dell’Amore was free and accessible to everyone until it was shut down in 2012. To experience the Path of Love, guests must first reserve a timed 30-minute group trip online for five euros (US$5.50).
For an experimental period ending on September 30, 2023, the trail will be open. Daily hours are 9 am to 7 pm, with evening hours through September 3 being 7pm to 9:30 pm. The trial period will allow up to 600 individuals per day to walk the route. The time slots have a limit of 30 guests per reservation and about 20 slots per day (excluding the evening slots).
Restoration Will Be Complete In 2024
In the course of the ‘Path Of Love’ tour, which lasts for 30 minutes, visitors will be able to take in the breathtaking Ligurian Sea while tour guides recount the history of the Via dell’Amore.
The history will be explained from its beginnings as the result of a railway development project to the present-day restoration efforts.
The complete 2,950-foot walkway in Italy is scheduled to reopen in July 2024 after the Via dell’Amore renovation is finished.
