US Woman Turns Hobby Into A World Record With Unique Museum Filled With 38,000+ Spoons

Across the world, we’ve seen plenty of unique and surprising things. And now, here’s one more story that will leave you amazed. Not everyone has the courage to turn a hobby into a world record, but Camellia R. Pohl, a resident of Iowa, did just that. She turned her lifelong passion for collecting spoons into a one-of-a-kind museum. Scroll down to know more!

What Inspired Camellia To Collect Antique Spoons?

Let’s take a look at Camellia’s journey. Her love for collecting antique spoons was not something sudden. It began when her great-grandmother gifted her an antique silverware set before she left for the US Army basic training. As per NDTV, that thoughtful gift sparked her curiosity and inspired her to explore spoons from different places across the world and not only US. Over the years, she travelled across the United States and beyond, in search for rare and unique spoons.

Her dedication and patience finally paid off. She collected a total of 38,162 spoons! This massive collection allowed her to establish the one-of-a-kind museum, Mississippi Spoon Gallery and earned her recognition from Guinness World Records.

Inside The Mississippi Spoon Gallery

When you visit the museum, you’ll get to see over 30,000 antique and rare spoons on display. To put it into perspective, if you used one spoon every day, it would take you more than 104 years to go through the entire collection.

According to NDTV reports, the museum features spoons from different eras and countries, each showcasing the fine and rich craftsmanship of silversmiths. Some spoons are also from the iconic Queen Victoria era which are specially handmade designs by Noritake, and elegant Franz porcelain sets. Camellia has also collected spoons from countries like France, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and Korea. Her collection further includes over 100 plique-a-jour spoons, created by skilled artists from Austria, Norway, Egypt, and Russia.

This museum is definitely a must-visit! What do you think?
