At around 2:30 am on August 2, 2026, a 44-year-old man scaled the north tower on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City. He took off his clothes and tied multiple flags, including a Kazakh flag with writing on it, to the top of the bridge. A video posted on X by @m_alejandr07 shows the scary visuals.
According to the New York Post, it was not immediately clear what the writing on the flag said. The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit tried to convince the man to come down. However, he leapt from the tower into the East River as onlookers watched in shock. The man reportedly had a makeshift parachute with him and miraculously survived the jump.

Man Rescued & Taken To Hospital
According to the New York Post, the man was rescued by officers from the NYPD Harbor Unit and taken to NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue. He was reported to be in stable condition. The videos showing the man at the top of the bridge are now going viral on social media.
Many users commented, “Wow, he actually survived,” while another wrote, “That’s crazy.” Some also expressed concern, saying the man may need help. Fortunately, the man survived and is now receiving medical care. We are now awaiting further details regarding the reason behind his actions.
The incident comes less than a month after a woman was rescued by NYPD officers from the steel cables of the Brooklyn Bridge. The woman was threatening to jump as the cops tried to talk her down.
