Turkish Airlines, Türkiye’s national carrier, soars into its 91st year with a unique tribute to its rich history.  Inspired by the Curtiss King Bird D2, the very first aircraft that launched their journey in 1933, the airline has unveiled a remarkable sculpture named “Wings of Türkiye.”

This awe-inspiring creation is a testament to both heritage and sustainability. Sculptor Selçuk Yılmaz, collaborating with Turkish Airlines, has meticulously crafted the “Wings of Türkiye” from retired aircraft parts accumulated over the airline’s impressive 91 years. This not only honours the Curtiss King Bird D2’s pioneering role in Turkish civil aviation but also breathes new life into these retired components.

The “Wings of Türkiye” is a colossal masterpiece, weighing in at a staggering 4 tons. Its impressive wingspan stretches 9 metres, its length reaches 6 metres, and it stands tall at 2.4 metres. Every curve and weld tells a story of Turkish Airlines’ remarkable journey. It draws a path from its humble beginnings to its current position as a global leader in aviation.

To further enrich the experience, Turkish Airlines has created a captivating film that accompanies the sculpture. This visual narrative poetically depicts the airline’s evolution,. It uses the “Wings of Türkiye” as a powerful metaphor for its ascent to its present-day prominence.
