Typhoon Koinu: Hong Kong Increases Warnings; Shuts Down Schools & Transport

It is a terribly scary time in Hong Kong because of the Typhoon Koinu. The storm has already wreaked havoc in different parts. From rainfalls to floods to strong gushing winds to damages, it is terrifying. In between all the chaos, Hong Kong issued the third-highest warning signal on October 8, 2023. Some places have been closed and some transportation services have been suspended. Read on to know all about the typhoon and its latest updates.

Here’s All About Typhoon Koinu In Hong Kong

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform/ Oo ps (@ps_trump) shared a video of the rainy scenario in Hong Kong.

In between everything happening there, the warning for third-highest warning has been issued. The schools have been closed, transportation facilities have been shut. According to various reports surfacing online, the typhoon has weakened and changed to a severe storm. With this, Hong Kong is receiving heavy rainfall with massive strong winds.

The Hong Kong Observatory announced that the typhoon has shifted southwest along the coast of Guangdong province in China and also weakened to a tropical depression. Railway and flight services are now suspended due to the poor weather conditions there, according to a report by the Hindustan Times.

Typhoon’s Remnants Hit Southern China

Remnants of the scary typhoon reached Southern China and hit the place on October 9, 2023. The aftermath of Typhoon Koinu after hitting on Monday is disastrous.

More than 300 people suffered injuries badly due to the disaster. One person passed away due to this. Affected people had to vacate their houses and rush to shelters to save their lives.

Hong Kong also had to suspend the ferry services after the storm hit Southern China.

Hong Kong and Southern part of China have faced a disastrous typhoon just about a month back. Previously it was Typhoon Saola and now it is Typhoon Koinu.
