UAE Announces Key Road Diversions And Here’s Everything To Know!

Motorists listen up! If you’re travelling within UAE every day, it’s important you read this. The Abu Dhabi Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has declared a traffic detour on Emirates Road, which runs across the city. In order to construct the Etihad Rail project, the road will be turned into a lateral two-lane road, according to RTA. Today, Wednesday, June 8, the road diversions and closures begin.

What Are These Road Diversions For?

Residents and commuters between the areas should expect delays due to the traffic. RTA has asked that cars follow the navigational and regulation signage in the detour area. Etihad has launched a direct rail route between Abu Dhabi-Dubai. Etihad Rail network is a significant step in the UAE’s greatest infrastructure project. The two emirates have now entered a new era of logistical and economic integration.

The link was recently completed under Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai. He’s also the Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance. And Sheikh Theyab Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court and Etihad Rail was also present at the event. We can’t wait for the project to get complete in order to experience this new rail route.

What Else?

Meanwhile, the Dubai RTA recently announced that over 90% of the Tripoli Street Improvement Project has been completed. The 12-km stretch links Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road and is expected to open this June. The project will improve access between Dubai and Sharjah and also streamline access to Warqaa and Mirdif districts.

This might spike the volume of traffic to about 12,000 vehicles parallelly. The aim is to reduce the traffic volumes by 30%.

The project includes the construction of a 5.3 km-long street of three lanes, from Tripoli-Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Streets up to Emirates Road.
