UAE recently brought a change to the residence visa validity of the free zone. The validity period which was previously three years was reduced to two years according to the official circular. The duration of work permits has now been standardised by the UAE government. The new rule has been communicated to clients by individual free zones. The information was specifically confirmed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

According to the circulars by officials, the previously authorised visa with the old validity mentioned will remain valid for the same span. The ones in the process will reflect the new 2-year validity period. So if you go and apply for a new visa now, the validity period will be 2 years as per government conditions.

More than 40 specialised free zones exist in the UAE. This permit allows foreign investors and expatriates to hold 100% of businesses. These zones are governed by a distinct set of laws and restrictions. This visa provides residents with far greater flexibility and lower rates and is very well-liked. But the increased price of this visa might be a concern for the business holders. But the ease of doing business in UAE makes people invest anyway.
