Uber has launched a special product called ‘Uber for Teens’ in India. This service aims to provide a safe, reliable, and convenient transportation solution specifically designed for teenagers aged between 13 and 17 years. Available in 37 cities, including major hubs like Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. This new service is poised to ease the travel challenges faced by teens and their families.

Uber for Teens is designed to address the unique travel needs of teenagers while ensuring parental control and safety. According to Uber, the product integrates stringent safety measures such as GPS tracking, real-time ride updates, and an in-app emergency button. Additionally, the service allows parents to create a Teen account to supervise rides, receive notifications, and track journeys in real time.

According to Prabhjeet Singh, President of Uber India and South Asia, the launch of Uber for Teens responds to the growing need for reliable transportation for teenagers. “We recognise the unique transportation challenges faced by teenagers and their families in India. With Uber for Teens, we are committed to providing a service that parents can trust, and that teens will find easy and cool to use,” he stated.

Parents’ Perspective On Teen Transportation

A consumer survey by Uber revealed that 92% of parents face instances where their teens cannot attend activities due to unreliable transportation. Additionally, 72% cited safety as a primary concern. Interestingly, 93% of surveyed parents said they would be likely to use a safe and reliable ridesharing option for their teens if it were available, with 64% expressing intent to use it regularly.

The service aims to cater to common parental challenges, such as transporting teens to after-school activities and coaching classes. The product’s design focuses on offering a safe, supervised, and hassle-free travel option for young riders.

How To Use Uber For Teens

Parents with a verified Uber account can invite their teens to join the app, following which the teen can set up their profile, add their guardian, and start booking rides. Parents receive notifications and updates, ensuring peace of mind. Additionally, guardians can request rides on behalf of their teens, reflecting on the teen’s account for easier tracking.
