Amid the devastating Russian invasion of Ukraine, a Ukrainian man was arrested for partially sinking his Russian boss’ superyacht worth $7.7 million (₹59 crores) in Spain. The multi-million dollar superyacht belonging to businessman, Alexander Mijeev got flooded after the Ukrainian man opened many valves to intentionally flood the vessel. Read on to know more.

The Yacht Owner’s Company Produced Weapons Used To Invade Ukraine

The Russian tycoon, Alexander Mijeev is the CEO of Rosoboronexport, a military weapons company from Russia. The Ukrainian man,  Taras Ostapchuk who partially sank the tycoon’s superyacht, Lady Anastasia, said there was a reason behind his actions. He revealed to news agencies that he took this action after watching the news about the war. A video footage revealed that the yacht owner’s company produced armaments that were used in the Russia-Ukraine war. The armaments were used to attack innocents in Kyiv.

Ostapchuk was arrested for partially sinking the multi-million dollar yacht, but he said that he has no regrets for it. The luxury yacht faced severe damages, especially to the engine room. Ostapchuk worked for his Russian boss as a mechanic on the yacht. While he is released from custody in Spain, he intends to return back to Ukraine to help fight the war.
