The Gorakhpur Development Authority will turn Sumer Sagar Tal, which was freed from encroachment two years ago, into the city’s second Chowpatty. In order to get the beautifying work done under the Accelerated Economic Development Programme, the GDA has sent the government a proposal for ₹27 crores. GDA wants to turn Sumer Sagar Tal into a popular tourist destination similar to Ramgarhtal. After being enhanced, this pool will give visitors the impression of strolling through Mumbai’s Chowpatty.
Sumer Sagar Lake is spread over 18.5 acres
Sumer Sagar Lake is located midway between Vijay Chauraha and Dharamshala markets, covering 18.5 acres. The administration had cleared the lake of encroachment at the government’s request. Since then, the pool has been beautified. It deepened to give it a more natural appearance.
It will boost the depth of the GDA pool in addition to giving it a natural appearance. Moreover, plans will be made and executed to prevent erosion of the pond’s banks. To prevent the contaminated water from entering the pool, a concrete drain will be constructed on its side.

Clean Water, Jogging Tracks And Fountains Will Be The Highlight
Also, plans will be developed to prevent water logging in the areas near Sumer Sagar Lake. To treat the contaminated water from the drains coming from Vijay Chauraha and Dharamshala, a facility will be built. The pool will only be filled with pure water. A pond will be constructed so that it can store more water while allowing the groundwater level to be maintained as well.
A jogging track will be built in 1.437-kilometre length. Famous cuisine from the city and its neighbours would be found there to indulge in. With the jogging track on site, the locals will have adequate room to exercise thanks to this. You may park about 400 automobiles and bicycles here. In Sumer Sagar Tal, GDA will also construct a musical fountain. The entire pool area will be equipped with enough lighting. Moreover, seating arrangements will be made.
