The United States Embassy has issued more than 1,40,000 student visas in the last federal fiscal year from October 2022 to September 2023. This is more than any previous year which means that it has broken all records. This landmark achievement was made possible owing to various innovative solutions. More such solutions will be employed in order to streamline the process as much as possible. Here are all the important details that you would need to know about this spectacular milestone.

According to an article which was recently published by Times Now, the US Embassy and its consulates processed more than 1,40,000 student visas during the last federal fiscal year. In a statement, the US State Department announced on November 28, Tuesday that it was more than any previous year. This means that it has set a new record-high number of non-immigrant visas.

As per the Times Now article, half of the US embassies examined more non-immigrant visas than ever before. In addition to this, they also visited more than 600,000 visitor visas for various purposes which include but are not limited to business as well as tourism. The US Mission of processing more than one million non-immigrant visa applications in 2023 was met and surpassed last month.

The US Embassy also stated that in the last year alone, more than 1.2 million Indian passport holders visited the US. This means that India and the US now have one of the most robust travel relations in the entire world. The statement cited in the Times Now article also said that Indian passport holders now make up around 10 per cent of all the visa applications in the world.

This includes 20 per cent of all student visa applications as well as 65 per cent of all H&L-Category visa applicants, which is for employment. The statement said that the US welcomes this growth. Such a landmark milestone was achieved with the help of various innovative solutions which streamlined the application process for Visas.

For instance, interview waiver authorities were expanded which allowed frequent travellers to renew visas without having to visit the embassy or consulate. These were applicants who met the strict national security requirements and standards. The statement also added that more such innovative solutions will be employed in the future.

The option of domestic visa renewal is one such solution that the embassy is exploring.
