Gangetic Dolphin Is Now The State Aquatic Animal
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister declaring about the state aquatic animal is great news and it also focuses on so many things to protect dolphins, keep the water bodies clean, maintain their purity, and so much more. Indian rivers such as Chambal, Ganga, Gerua, Ghagra, Rapti, and Yamuna are the home to the famous dolphins. Right now, the population of this animal in Uttar Pradesh is about 2,000, according to a report by NDTV.
CM Yogi Adityanath talked about how it is important for the local people and visitors from other places to stop the usage of plastic. Plastic leaves a harsh impact on nature and it pollutes the serene surroundings and water bodies as well. Yogi Ji also mentioned the significance of giving proper training in interacting with animals and wildlife to the local citizens.
CM Yogi Adityanath Also Shared Some Plans
Along with emphasising the cleanliness of rivers and water bodies and the importance of people’s contribution to protecting nature, he also shared a proposal of giving training to local people. These locals are generally from the villages that have some connection with the tiger reserve. According to the Chief Minister’s proposals, these villagers can be trained as guides, according to a report by The Times of India. This also is a great step to focus on the goal of boosting employment by introducing more new job opportunities among people. Also, this is going to spread awareness among everyone.
Team members of the World Wide Fund for Nature and Forest Department came together to begin the counting of dolphins in the rivers. They are doing this at Garh Ganga in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh. The entire process is taking place by using GPS. The campaign is known as the ‘Meri Ganga Meri Dolphin 2023 campaign’ as shared by Sanjay Kumar Mall.
