International travellers who are fully vaccinated can now skip quarantine in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued an order that exempts the mandatory institutional quarantine for vaccinated travellers from the UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Brazil. All vaccinated passengers who arriving from or transiting through these destinations can skip quarantine. Previously, travellers arriving from these places had to undergo a week-long institutional quarantine, followed by home quarantine.

Passengers Have To Provide A Copy Of Vaccination Certificate
International travellers arriving in Mumbai from the UK, Europe, Middle East, South Africa and Brazil can now skip institutional quarantine if they are vaccinated. Suresh Kakani of Mumbai’s municipal corporation has told The National, “A person who has taken two vaccine jabs is not required to go for institutional quarantine now. He does not need any quarantine for that matter.” Mr. Kakani added, “But even after taking the vaccine, we have noticed that some people are getting infected… So it is advisable that passengers from the restricted list should stay under home quarantine for a week. This is not mandatory”.
“Guests need to provide a copy of their vaccination certificate for two doses, along with a completed self-declaration form to be exempted from institutional quarantine.”, said Mr. Kakani. He also stated, “Even after the vaccine, if the viral load goes up and they show some symptoms, they should report to us or to any medical facility.” He has asked vaccinated travellers to notify the authorities if they face any symptoms. Travellers can also upload the vaccination certificate on the Air Suvidha online portal prior to travelling to India. Passengers From Other Categories Who Can Skip Quarantine
Apart from vaccinated travellers, BMC has also declared other categories of travellers from these nations who can skip the quarantine. These categories are as follows:
- Elderly passengers above 65 years of age
- Women in the advanced stage of pregnancy
- Passengers who need immediate medical attention for illness, including cancer
- Travellers with severe mental illness or physical disability; passengers must show documents with proof of the disease or confirm the urgency of admission to the hospital
- Parents accompanying children aged under 5
- Travellers having serious family issues, like critical condition, serious accident or death of a family member; passengers need to show supporting documents to the airport staff
- Medical professionals travelling for life-saving surgery to attend to critically-ill patients
