VIDEO: UAE’S Mars Probe Is Finally Here And It Looks Stunning

UAE’s Mars mission is well under progress. The Hope probe was  transferred from Dubai’s Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre to its launch site in Japan. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, on Saturday, marked the arrival of the UAE’s Hope Probe in Japan. The probe is expected to take off between July 14 – August 3. The probe is expected to reach the Red Planet in the first quarter of 2021.

The probe is expected to take seven to nine months. The Hope Probe is named Al Amal in Arabic, and will become the first to provide a complete picture of the Martian atmosphere and its layers.

“The Hope Probe represents a turning point for the Arab and Islamic world in the space sector. Reaching Mars is not only a scientific goal, it sends a message to our Arab youth that we are capable and that hope transcends the distance between earth and the skies,” Sheikh Mohammed said on Saturday.

Despite tough global travel conditions, engineers are working round the clock to complete the region’s most awaited space project. The probe was developed in less than six years, instead of ten, and at half the cost.

Earlier, in February, the final component on the probe was installed featuring the names and signatures of the UAE Rulers and Crown Princes. The inscription on the component reads: “The power of hope shortens the distance between the earth and the sky.”
