Shekhar Suman Shares Memories Of Coming To Mumbai, His 1st Home & Early Days Of His Acting Career

Shekhar Suman Recalls Coming To Mumbai 40 Years Back

While giving the house tour, Shekhar Suman was explaining how he loves the view from his house. To which Kamiya asked him a question, ‘It’s been a long time since you came from Patna?’ To which he instantly replied, “It’s been a long time. It’s been 40 years.” After this, Kamiya asked where he lived initially when he came to Mumbai and where his first house was. To which he replied, “My first house was my sister’s house.” However, he further revealed how just 15 days after arriving in Mumbai, he landed an acting project, which changed things quickly for him.

He also told Kamiya that with the money he earned, he bought a house in Mahakali in Andheri, thinking of himself among the fortunate few to accomplish such a milestone so early in his career. He also revealed that he had purchased a car and established himself in the city within a short span of time. Adding to the conversation, he said, “At the time, God had been kind.” 

Shekhar Suman On His First Acting Break

Shekhar Suman further talked about his first acting break and how he felt when he got down at the Mumbai Central station for the first time. “We saw millions of people from here milling around. So I told my wife, ‘Let’s go back, who is going to see me in such a crowd?’ (10:17) And how am I going to make it?”

He further revealed that when he got the first role just 15 days later, they all celebrated a lot. “ I am still amazed at how it happened. It hasn’t happened to anybody,” he concluded.
