Mumbai witnesses one of the largest celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi, if not the largest one in the country. As such, during this time a lot of religious tourists and devotees visit the city. Given the number of exquisite Ganesh pandals, Mumbai houses, traffic and parking become some of the foremost issues. In order to combat these issues, the Wadala BEST bus depot has launched a pay-&-park facility to accommodate the high number of vehicles.

According to an article which was recently published by The Free Press Journal or FPJ, the facility has only been launched at the Wadala BEST Bus Depot. The decision was taken by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport or BEST.
The facility will be available till the Ganesh Chaturthi festivities end, which will be on September 17, 2024. What is more, it will allow the parking of both, two-wheelers as well as three-wheelers. This is being done with the aim of reducing traffic congestion owing to unauthorised parking.
The parking rates are also reasonable so that motorists don’t have to worry about hefty parking fees. For three hours, the parking fee is merely ₹30. For six hours, it is ₹40 and for 12 hours, it is ₹70. The announcement was made on the official X (formerly known as Twitter) handle of BEST Bus.

The Wadala BEST Bus Depot parking will mainly come in handy for devotees visiting the GSB Seva Mandal Ganpati Pandal and the Ram Mandir in Wadala. The GSB Pandal is the richest in Mumbai. Year after year, they manage to retain this title.
This year, the pandal was insured for ₹400 crores. It was decked with a whopping 66 kg of gold and more than 325 kg of silver. Aishwarya Rai, with her daughter Aaradhya, recently visited the pandal.
