Wari Chora is a small village located in the Meghalaya Garo hills. Warichora’s Warri means a deep river. Garo Hills is home to the Garo people, known for their unique culture and traditions. They have a rich history and a deep connection to the land, and their way of life revolves around nature. Wari Chora is located in the South Garo Hills of Meghalaya and is situated at a drive distance of 7-8 hours.

This place has been recently discovered yet it has already become a tourist destination. The best way to get to Wari Chora is to take a private taxi from the town of Shillong via NH106. This hidden gem is approx. 45ft deep and 1km long trail. And Wari Chora is just 30 km away from Bangladesh.

Things To Do In Wari Chora

Although this is a newly discovered tourist destination yet it offers a lot of activities. Tourism infrastructure is slowly developing, but locals ensure to make your trip as memorable as possible.

River Rafting

River rafting in this tranquil river is one of the best things you can ever experience. The river water is actually blue in color. While there are various caves present over there, so it might get a little tricky. Still, the sound of water, waterfalls, lush green forests, and the utmost calmness of Wari Chora make it an ideal destination to visit.

Places To Visit In Wari Chora

As mentioned above in the river there are waterfalls. It is absolutely surreal to witness these waterfalls.

Apart from the cascading falls in the river, there are two apparently falls named Re-nang Dare Falls and Chibok Dare, Bawe Durga. Both of them involve hiking so if you’re willing to catch a mesmerizing view go for it. The way to reach these waterfalls is very difficult yet they are gorgeous crystal-clear falls that act as a treat to your eyes. There’s a fish sanctuary also named Agnima Wari Fish Sanctuary but the way to this one is also difficult.Wari Chora in Meghalaya is the ideal quintessential destination to be visited in order to escape from the scorching heat in your city.
