Watch: Expo 2020 To Feature The World’s Largest 360-Degree Projection Screen

With just eight months to go before ‘The World’s Greatest Show’- Expo 2020, Dubai is prepping in full swing to put up one hell of a show. After months of waiting, the Expo 2020 site has finally started taking some serious shape, with entry portals and pavilions finding their spots. And from what we’ve seen so far, Dubai is truly living up to its glitz and glamour. The Expo 2020 will boast a stunning one-of-its-kind architecture and the videos and pictures say it all. The latest we hear is that Expo 2020 will also feature the world’s largest 360-degree projection screen, Al Wasl Dome.

Meanwhile, have you watched Expo 2020’s countdown video?

What’s It?

Dubai is gearing up for an extravagant show this year! The much- awaited Expo 2020 is eight months away and Dubai is all set to put up a stellar show. The site is slowly taking shape and with each passing day, residents are given a sneak peek of what’s in store. The latest we hear is that the Expo 2020 site will feature the world’s largest 360-degree projection screen, Al Wasl Dome.

The dome will display fascinating light shows throughout the expo. Dubai media office shared a video of the dome and this is truly mind-blowing. Take a look!

The video shows the dome glittering in various shades of pinks, blues and yellows, adding more grandeur to the site. The architecture of the dome signifies Emirati tradition and culture. Going by stats, the structure spans 130 metres wide and 67.5 metres tall. That in lay man’s terms would mean the size of 300 Olympic-sized swimming pools. Can you even imagine anything that size? And its taller than Italy’s Leaning Tower of Pisa.

Furthermore, the website also reveals that the dome is made of 13.6 kilometres of steel, that’s 16 Burj Khalifas put together (precisely), weighs 2,544 tonnes, (the weight of 25 blue whales), and is almost as wide as two Airbus A380 aircraft. The dome is located in Al Wasl Plaza, connecting the three main districts of Expo 2020.

What Else?

The Al Wasl Plaza will convert into the centre stage of the grand expo. The opening and closing ceremonies of the event will also take place here. All the ideas and demonstrations are said to tie the theme of the Expo- “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”In April 2017, residents were given a glimpse of the Al Wasl Plaza. The plaza will feature a 65-metre tall dome and can hold up to 10,000 visitors. It also has a 360-degree screen, which will project images to visitors inside and outside the venue.  Furthermore, each participating country will have a separate pavilion and there will also be individual pavilions for main themes – sustainability, mobility and opportunity. The UAE pavilion, designed by Santiago Calatrava is constructed in the shape of a falcon.

Over 75 entertainment events will be hosted every day including fashion shows, talk shows, and comedy. The event will also have innovative workshops including robotics and 3D printing. The logoThe inspiration for the Expo 2020 logo came from a ring found in the Al Marmum area. Sheikh Mohammed revealed the design last year and also displayed it on the Burj Khalifa.
