We Tested If Lin Laishram And Randeep Hooda Understand Their Languages Well!

Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram are one of the recent couples in Bollywood that have had us swooning! Their beautiful and culturally diverse wedding became the talk of the town, and rightly so. In this lovely episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani converses with them about everything from love to the Bollywood industry and how it is to be married. As they are chatting on the warm Sunday afternoon, we play a fun game with them, read to find out who did better than the other! 

We Tested How Well Lin Laishram And Randeep Hooda Can Understand Each Other’s Languages

Randeep and Lin talk in detail about their wedding in Manipur amid the turbulent time. These are two people who understand each other and each other’s culture well. They draw joy from knowing about the other’s culture and language. We decided to put that to the test!

Kamiya brings out a bowl of phrases, one in Haryanvi and one in Manipuri. Lin looks excited and certainly up for the challenge and Randeep looks nervous and talks about how this is going to be difficult! Lin jokes how this is “Haryana vs Manipur”, like in most sports games.

Haryana and Manipur are famous states in the country for producing tough athletes who tend to compete with each other at the National level. Randeep tells us a story about his friend gifting them boxing gloves at the wedding. The friend said that as long as the boxer is from Haryana or from Manipur, they are going to be a good one! 

Randeep goes first. Sounding mighty attractive in his Haryanvi accent, he starts talking in the language of his hometown. Lin is good at the game and gets a point right off the bat! Looking at how good his wife is, Randeep tells us that Haryanvi is an easy language.

Randeep is quite bad when his turn comes around. Unabashed, he states that the language of love doesn’t need any words! Lin tries to save her husband’s pride as she acts out the phrase she’s saying but Randeep still, is the inevitable loser of the game. 

The Language Of Love Doesn’t Need Any Words

Kamiya asks the love birds how they say I love you in their own languages. Randeep jokes saying that they don’t say ‘I love you’ in Haryanvi. The three of them laugh about how there are no words to describe romantic love in the language at all! Haryana, as a state is not known for being very expressive.

Kamiya asks Lin whether Randeep is expressive of his love. Lin tells us that Randeep is not romantic in the ‘gifts and candles’ sense– he’s more practical than anything. Randeep shows his love by being affectionate and buying Lin little trinkets of jewellery wherever he goes!
