What is UPI One World & Who Can Use It?

To make real-time digital payment easier and seamless for international visitors, NPCI has unveiled the UPI One World wallet. Working along the lines of UPI payments, this service will allow foreign tourists to experience cashless travel in India. As per NPCI, with the help of UPI One World, foreign travellers will have the “opportunity to immerse themselves in India’s rich culture, cuisine, and many diverse experiences with the ease of UPI payments.”

This service is available for all international tourists coming to India. As per a Business Standard report, foreign tourists can use the UPI One World app by simply scanning the QR codes to make payments at any merchant location. Furthermore, in accordance with foreign exchange regulations, any unused balance can be easily transferred back to the original payment source.

This wallet service was first introduced during the G20 Summit held in India last year. Authorities believe that UPI One World will eliminate the need to carry cash and the complexities of foreign exchange transactions for tourists.
