Rice is an essential part of a Japanese diet. Used in the preparation of sushi, paired with Japanese Katsu curry amongst others, citizens have taken to social media to address their concerns about the rising prices of the grain. When Japanese tourists fly to South Korea, they ensure they purchase the grain for their daily consumption.

However, since rice is a regulated agricultural product, Japanese flyers need to follow a process. Firstly, they must undergo a quarantine procedure at Seoul’s Incheon International Airport. Next, they need to submit the required documents, confirm their address and then receive a plant export certificate in about 30 minutes.
