Air India operates direct flights from Indian cities to many foreign destinations every day. Here’s Why Air India Is Terminating Amsterdam-Bound Flights From Delhi
The airline is going to cancel flight services from the Indira Gandhi International Airport to the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on October 27, 2023. The primary reason behind this significant decision is the issue of getting enough slots at the Amsterdam Airport, according to a report by Hotelier India. Due to the constraints in getting appropriate area of flight slots, the decision to discontinue flights from Delhi to Amsterdam has been taken. Winter season is a peak time for many travel enthusiasts to plan trips to the beautiful capital of the Netherlands. Even after such a high travel time, Air India could not schedule flights properly connecting Amsterdam from the Indian capital.

Slots Available For The Upcoming Holiday Season
The number of available slots at AMS was 303,000 in the 2023 summer season, as stated by the Airport Coordination Netherlands (ACNL), Eindhoven Airport, Rotterdam The Hague Airport, and the AMS slot coordinator. The numbers have significantly dropped in the upcoming 2023 winter season. According to Airport Coordination Netherlands, the number of available slots for the winter season is 189,515.
It has been a few months since Air India began operating flights from Delhi to Amsterdam again after 26 years. Initiating flights in June 2023, the airline is discontinuing services on this route in late October 2023.
