The World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27 every year globally. To celebrate beautiful travel destinations, attractions, and experiences of India, OYO has recently released a report which primarily focuses on the best and most loved destinations of our country known for offering and celebrating cultural, heritage, and spiritual experiences.

From beaches to mountains to deserts and snow, India is home to diverse landscapes and unique scenic surroundings. Just like a huge diversity in the field of travel destinations, the country is also renowned in the world for its culture and heritage. In this World Tourism Day report, OYO has emphasised the foremost top spiritual, cultural, and heritage destinations of India. To curate the list and add several places to the report, OYO has tracked down different travel trends across the country.

Jaipur has topped the chart of India’s cultural and heritage destinations between January 2023 and June 2023, according to the OYO’s press release. Agra, Mysore, Udaipur, and Jodhpur are the next travel places on this list. One of the most eye-catching information about the cultural and heritage category is that 76 per cent of bookings in this travel category have been made for Rajasthan. Jaipur accounts for more than 60 per cent of the overall numbers in the state.

Zone Wise Top Heritage Destinations:

  • North: Agra
  • South: Mysore
  • East: Bodh Gaya
  • West: Jaipur

Thekkady has seen a major growth in bookings. It witnessed an increase of 103 per cent in comparison to the same time period in 2022. Mysore saw a rise of 42 per cent.

Which Are The Top Spiritual Destinations Of India?

Spiritual travel is no longer a fascinating experience only for elder people. Both Gen Zs and millennials are going on devotional trips in a large number and it is surely boosting this segment of the travel industry. Varanasi is the top destination in this category and contributes to 33 per cent of bookings in this category. The next destinations on this list are Tirupati, Puri, Amritsar, and Haridwar.

Zone Wise Top Spiritual Destinations:

  • North: Amritsar
  • South: Tirupati
  • East: Varanasi
  • West: Shirdi

In comparison to the same time period in 2022, Puri reported the highest surge this year by 22 per cent. Haridwar witnessed an uptick of 18 per cent and Amritsar by 11 per cent.
