Excuse the pun but the sky is indeed going to be full of drones in Sydney this June because Vivid Sydney is back and so are their spectacular drone shows. With state-of-the-art light displays, interactive art pieces, and creative pop-up kitchens, the three-week Vivid Sydney kickstarted in the city last Friday. Just like last year, the highlight of the event will be the drone shows that will take place on June 8, 9, and 15. Vivid Sydney is a multidisciplinary festival of lights that illuminate the skyline of this popular Australian city. With music, food, and lots of stunning art light displays and art pieces, Vivid Sydney started on May 24. The show will go on for three weeks (June 15) and will turn Sydney Harbour into a twinkling wonderland with its beautiful light shows.
Now, coming to the best bit – the drone shows. The Vivid Drone will run for three nights during the three-week Vivid Sydney event – June 8, 9, and 15. The theme for the show is ‘Love Is In The Air’ and it will feature more than 700 drones lighting up the sky above Circular Quay. The show has been curated by Gill Minervini and will be soundtracked by Sydney-based DJ and Producer Peewee Ferris.

Vivid Sydney is an annual multidisciplinary festival of lights, music, and food. While the epicentre of this programme is Circular Quay, the show will have different events across the city. It includes places like The Rocks, the State Library of New South Wales, Walsh Bay Arts Precinct, Barangaroo, Darling Harbour, the University of Technology Sydney, The Goods Line, Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, and Carriageworks.
The lights of the show turn on at 6 PM every night. Of course, there are different programmes as well that include panel discussions, late-night gigs, and dance parties. While drone and light shows of Vivid Sydney are free for all, there are a few exclusive events that require tickets, like the immersive illuminated walk through Sydney’s Botanic Gardens.
