The world’s largest funfair, which has been around for 45 years, concludes its final tour at the end of October. Yes, the Carters Steam fair even featured in Hollywood movies like Rocketman and Paddington 2 is now up for sale. But why is this renowned fair up for sale? Read on to know more.
The Carters Stream Fair That Runs At The Prospect Park
The Carters Steam fair features a variety of vintage rides and games, including, bumper cars, dodgems, and coconut shy. All rides from the 1890s to the 1960s have been restored to their original style. Their collection of rare vintage amusement park rides spans over 70 years of British amusement park history— from 1895 to 1965.

The fairground opened in 1977 when owners Anna and John Carter purchased a Jubliee Steam Gallopers ride in 1895. They quickly became vintage ride specialists as they added more and more rides into their collection. Well, now their son Joby Carter operates the fair. Joby has been working there since he was a child.

Why The Iconic World’s Largest Funfair Is Up For Sale?
Joby Carter is 47 years old and now it’s difficult to find caretakers for the vintage rides. And because of the time-to-time touring the rides get damaged. This led to the fact that a lot of restoration work will be required. In this day and age, it’s getting harder and harder to transport vintage gear and now it is more expensive too.
So, the authorities have announced to end of the steam fair, and 2022 will be their final tour. Also, they’ve invested thousands of hours over the years to make these rides accessible to so many people. Right now, the world’s largest fair is in pristine condition, if anybody wants to take over.
