“Worst Uber Ride Ever”: Delhi Woman Shares Harrowing Ride While Taking Sick Mother To The Hospital

A Delhi woman’s urgent hospital ride turned into a nightmare after her Uber Sedan driver allegedly refused proper AC, drove rashly, and stopped short of the emergency gate. Her Reddit post detailing the ordeal has gone viral, sparking anger over driver behavior and empathy in critical situations. Uber is yet to respond, while social media debates compassion vs convenience in India’s ride-hailing services.

“Worst Uber Ride Ever”: Delhi Woman Shares Harrowing Ride While Taking Sick Mother To The Hospital

What should have been a 30-minute cab ride to the hospital turned into a nerve-wracking struggle for a Delhi woman who was trying to get her mother to the hospital by Uber, suffering from dangerously high blood pressure. She was in need of urgent medical care. Instead of a straightforward trip, she says she was met with indifference, arguments, and even arrogance from her Uber driver.

In a Reddit post that has since gained traction, the woman recounted how she deliberately booked an Uber Sedan, trusting its higher rating and better upkeep. “The driver had a 4.9, so I thought it would be fine,” she wrote. But the ordeal began almost immediately.

Her mother, sweating profusely in the September heat, asked for the air conditioning to be turned up. The driver complied briefly before lowering it again. When pressed, his response stunned her: CNG car hai, AC tez karunga toh car nahi chalegi. Uber main paise nahi bante agar zyada tez karde AC toh,” which translates to “It’s a CNG car, if I increase the AC, it won’t run. We don’t make money if the AC is too strong.”

She tried explaining her mother’s condition, but his cooperation came laced with hostility. According to her, he began driving erratically and glaring at her through the mirror.

Internet Reacts With Anger And Sympathy

Things came to a head when they reached the hospital. The driver, she claims, flatly refused to enter the premises, insisting the drop-off ended at the main gate. After back-and-forth arguments, he finally relented, only to quip, “Uber Sedan ko Uber Go samajh rakha hai tumne.” He then stopped at the OPD gate rather than the emergency entrance, forcing the woman to shout before he would drive any further.

“I just don’t understand how some drivers can be so unempathetic, especially in a hospital situation,” she later wrote, adding that her complaint through the uber app has gone unanswered.

Online, reactions poured in. One user showed compassion: “Sorry for your situation. How’s aunty doing now?” Another was less charitable toward the driver: “Aisi konsi gaadi laaya jo itni akad dikha raha hai?” (“Which car’s AC has he brought that he’s showing so much arrogance?”).

Others chimed in with practical advice, suggesting Uber Premier or Black for emergencies, while also lamenting what they saw as a broader erosion of basic empathy in public dealings.

Uber has yet to respond publicly to this case, but the post has lit up social media with one pointed question: when a family is rushing to a hospital, shouldn’t compassion matter more than CNG or AC settings?
