The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing on 1 January launched a new iconic song, celebrating Dubai. Titled ‘Ya Salam Ya Dubai’, the song is a musical tribute to the ever vibrant city of Dubai. ‘Ya Salam Ya Dubai’ will be distributed by Platinum Records.
The new song fuses the talents of Arabic music icon Rashed Al Majed and Moroccan–Swedish music producer RedOne. The song is a remake of Ahmad Al-Harmi’s Dubai Kawkab Aakhar, released during the 25th season of the Dubai Shopping Festival and Khaled Nasser’s Dubai Danat Al Donia released in 1996, during the very first edition of DSF.
The Music Video Features Iconic Landmarks Across Dubai
The English version of the sing is written by RedOne and Pat Devine. The single hits are modernized to suit today’s music and appeal to music lovers and residents. Distributed by Platinum Records, the song was launched was on 1 January 2021, as part of the 26th Dubai Shopping Festival.
Directed by David Zannie, the music video features iconic Dubai landmarks including Jumeirah Al Naseem, Madinat Jumeirah, the Historical District, Dubai Water Canal, Coca-Cola Arena, Miracle Garden, Museum of Digital Art, La Mer, Ce La Vie restaurant, Jadaf Waterfront, Brass Monkey on Bluewaters Island, The Beach by Meraas and Dubai Creek Harbour.
The video celebrates Dubai’s progress to becoming one of the world’s best international destinations. Dubai has transformed and adapted to changing tourism trends in a short period and the video is a tribute to the same. Issam Kazim, CEO, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), said: “Dubai continues to defy expectations and we are very fortunate to have had a decisive leadership who leveraged a swift response to COVID-19 that allows the city to continue welcoming visitors from around the world safely into the new year.”
As Ya Salam Ya Dubai is launched, the Dubai Shopping Festival continues celebrating its greatest edition yet until 30 January, 2021, highlighting how the city and the event have grown and developed over the last 26 years into a regional and global favourite retail destination.
