If you thought the only way to reach the breathtaking Kashmir valley is via air travel, then you are wrong. By next year, Kashmir will be connected to the rest of India by trains. With all the bottlenecks at railway tracks to be removed, 2023 could be the year when you can hop on a train and arrive at ‘India’s heaven on earth’, in style. Here’s all about it.

Kashmir To Be Connected To Rest Of India By Trains

According to a report by the Times Of India, Indian Railways has completed a major portion of railway work in Jammu’s Ramban sector. This is the longest rail tunnel in India. Moreover, an official revealed to TOI that the Udhampur-Baramulla-Srinagar Rail (UBSR) Link in Jammu & Kashmir is also nearing completion.

Railway Connectivity To Boost Tourism In Region

Earlier, Jammu & Kashmir’s lack of railway connectivity to the rest of India was posing a major hindrance to the region’s socio-economic development. But not anymore. With Kashmir getting rail connectivity to the rest of India by 2023, you can expect an increase in employment and resources in the region. Moreover, with the advent of trains, Jammu & Kashmir will also witness a tourism boost.

As per a Daily Excelsior report, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Baldev Raj expressed hope to connect Kashmir to Kanyakumari via railways. He looked forward to the near future when Kashmir will spread its railway network across different regions of India. Also, when it comes to air travel to Kashmir, could be hindered due to weather issues. But train travel ensures all-weather connectivity to Kashmir. there’s another added benefit of train journeys being more cost-effective.

So, let’s hope we get to hop on a train to Kashmir very soon.
