The main compound found in the squid is melanin, which is also found in humans, giving it a dark colour. An ingredient that has been used since centuries, it has been used in traditional medicine, art, cosmetics, and even as food additives. Due to its dark colour and rich savoury taste, it is used in the aforementioned cuisines. In fact, studies also suggest that it might have some potential health benefits, such as anti-microbial properties and antioxidant effects.

On a concluding note, research studies claim that squid ink is a safe food additive that helps in flavouring dishes. And the dark colour gives it a quirky appearance that makes the dishes look Instagram-friendly as well! So, don’t miss out on the opportunity to try this out in Dubai.
