You Can Now Fly To The Konkan Coast From January 2021 & Explore Its Beauty

The Konkan region will now be more connected with the newly-built Chipi airport in Konkan’s Sindhudurg district. However, the good news is that flight operations will commence from January 2021. While the airport was to function from May 1, 2020, the operations got delayed because of the global pandemic. The government gave a green signal to start the operations from early next year.

The New Airport Will Boast Tourism In Konkan Region

Maharashtra chief minister (CM) Uddhav Thackeray said that while they are yet to get a lot of equipment from overseas, they will still start the operations from January. The airport near Goa border, will provide better connectivity to the Konkan region of Goa, Maharashtra, Western Maharashtra and North Karnataka. ₹520 Crores Invested In Building The New Airport

In April 2019, the ministry of civil aviation had permitted Alliance Air, to operate flights from the Sindhudurg airport under the government’s regional connectivity scheme, Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN). The connectivity scheme proposes to increase air connectivity to smaller cities.
