You May Soon Be Able To Charter A Flight From Chandigarh To Toronto And Vancouver

The Chandigarh International Airport was inaugurated six years ago by Prime Minister Narendra Modi but the airport still has only two international flights. But soon you may charter a flight to Toronto and Vancouver from here. Dogwerx International Capital Corporation, which is a Canada based company has proposed direct charter flights to two cities in Canada namely Toronto and Vancouver from Chandigarh International Airport.

A Relief For Canada’s Punjabi Diaspora

Rakesh Ranjan Sahay, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Chandigarh International Airport said that Canada based Dogwerx International Capital Corporation had approached them to start charter flights to Toronto and Vancouver and did give them a go ahead approval. He said that now they are waiting for a final nod and if this happens, it is totally going to prove as a big relief to all the Punjabi Diaspora in Canada. He further informed that for nearly three months, the flights will be seasonal and the capacity will be around 200, being the first one. They will wait for the response and then see to it if the capacity and the number of flights have to be increased.

Committee Is Trying For More International Flights

Chandigarh International Airport Advisory Committee’s member Sanjeev Vashisht said that they have been trying for more international flights. A meeting took place between airport authorities and the British High Commission in order to discuss the possibility of flights flying to Heathrow airport or Birmingham airport. Kirron Kher who is a member of Parliament from Chandigarh has also been pushing proposals to the United Kingdom and Canada. By far in six years only flights to Sharjah and Dubai are flying from Chandigarh International Airport. The airport was inaugurated with a vision of promotion of trade which demands connectivity to the world.
