A clean environment is necessary for sustainability. Similarly, keeping resources like beaches, water, etc clean is a need of time. In the UK, it was found that there are 22 beaches with high levels of pollutants. This is the result of the illegal dumping of sewage and other waste in the water bodies. Recently, the companies who were responsible for this crime have paid hefty fines.

In fact, a company had paid £510,000 for releasing untreated water into the river and killing around 5,000 fish in January. This is just a trailer! According to reports by The Guardian, these companies have been polluting the water bodies by releasing waste innumerable times! And even the ‘Blue Flag Beaches’ aren’t spared from the waste.

The Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has evaluated the status of certain beaches for the swimmers to know if the water is safe. And according to them, St Mary’s Bay in Kent is the most polluted beach. In fact, in February, a significant increase in faeces found in the water led to a year-long “do not swim” warning for the beach.
