Yuvraj Singh is an exemplary cricketer but not many know that he has recently forayed into the F&B space in India. The former Indian cricketer unveiled Koca, his pet project in Gurugram, a luxurious restaurant serving delectable Indian and global cuisines. And who better to do the honours than our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani as Koca’s first guest?!
Yuvraj Singh Had To Have Vegan & Veg Menus At Koca
While talking to Kamiya Jani about Koca, accompanied by his mother, Shabnam Singh, Yuvraj Singh revealed why his new restaurant has a vegetarian and vegan menu. The talented cricketer said that when they were opening a restaurant, he was insistent on the space serving vegetarian and vegan menus. That’s because when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2011, he had to change his diet. Yuvraj had to lean into a plant-based diet which he credits to have helped regain his health.
But he does acknowledge that when the body needs more protein, there may be a need to change one’s diet. So, that’s why he wishes to make sure everyone has something to gorge on as per their food preferences. While discussing the menu at the restaurant, Kamiya had to ask if it features Yuvraj’s favourite Kadi Pakodi and Rajma Chawal, and of course, he answered in the affirmative. After all, the batsman has grown up on these North Indian staples. So, he couldn’t imagine opening Koca without these classics.

His Mother, Shabnam Singh Joined The Sunday Brunch
Kamiya also asked him if he was hungry before their Sunday brunch. Yuvraj replied that he was building up an appetite thanks to their food-related conversations. Ahead of the meal at Koca, the cricketer had gorged on a sandwich and a protein shake. Yuvraj Singh’s mother, Shabnam Singh, joined her son for the Sunday Brunch meal. After all, the Kadhi Chawal recipe by Koca is inspired by Shabnam’s mother or Yuvraj’s nani (maternal grandmother).
From Mushroom Pasta, Avocado with Channa, Japanese Kadhi Chawal to Mushroom Bao and more, we enjoyed the feast at Koca in Gurugram. To get a glimpse of all the happenings with Yuvraj and Shabnam Singh, watch this episode on Curly Tales’s YouTube channel.
