On Thursday afternoon, a bus carrying dozens of passengers met with a tragic accident in Poonch, Jammu. The bus veered off the road near Tanda, Akhnoor, and fell into a deep gorge. So far, at least 10 people have been reported dead in the accident. Many were reported injured and have been taken to nearby hospitals for medical assistance. Jammu’s district magistrate took to X (formerly Twitter) to confirm this accident and mention that a rescue operation was underway. The bus was heading to Jammu’s Rajouri district from Hathras, Uttar Pradesh.

More Details Awaited As Authorities Start Rescue Operation
Videos and photos of the bus in the gorge are circulating online. Dozens of people can be seen emerging out of the completely trashed bus and coming up from the gorge. The exact number of passengers on the bus hasn’t been confirmed yet and the authorities are running a rescue operation to save these passengers and provide them with the needed medical care. The officials are yet to make a statement as they are still waiting for more details on the cause of the accident. They have requested people to remain calm and help the authorities.
