Bengalureans, if you thought FASTag was just needed for your road trips, you couldn’t be more wrong! Now, many malls in Bengaluru are adopting FASTag to solve your parking woes. Read on to know why you must have FASTag to make your mall-going experiences a better one!

Not Just For Toll Collection, FASTag Is Being By Bengaluru Malls

A report by The New Indian Express throws light on how Bengaluru malls and shopping arcades have embraced FASTag for quick deduction of money at parking lots. This helps ensure hassle-free parking and prevents traffic jams in the parking spaces. Mall managements revealed to TNIE that this has been adopted to avoid the problem of giving and taking change. Also, to avoid long queues of vehicles.

FASTags have been adopted by malls like Nexus, Orion and Forum and many others are following suit. Head of Karnataka Shopping Centre Association, Nandish M R, threw more light on this matter to TNIE. He stated that to implement this in mall parking lots, no special permission was needed from the government or any agency. Visitors can be assured that no extra charges are levied.

Malls In Delhi & Mumbai Also Have This

The same parking charge you’d pay through cash or card is the same which will be deducted from your account through FASTag. The mall management will collect a user free from your bank account linked to the FASTag. This method is now catching up in several malls in Bengaluru. Senior Vice-President, Orion Mall, Sunil Munshi stated to TNIE that malls in other Indian cities like Mumbai and Delhi have also adopted this. Also, he assures commuters that they still have the option to pay for their parking spot without using FASTag.

Also, officials of road transport and highways stated that there is a common misconception about FASTag only being used for toll collection. So, Bengalureans, the next time you visit a mall in Bengaluru, will you use FASTag to pay for your parking?
