It has been some time since news about visa-free travel between India and Russia has been surfacing on the Internet. Finally, we have a confirmed update about this programme and some necessary information as well. The recent update is that the consultations on a bilateral agreement will be starting very soon, in June 2024. Travelling between these two countries is going to be a lot easier soon.

Taking to X, Indian Tech & Infra (@IndianTechGuide) shared news about the visa-free travel programme.

Nikita Kondratyev is the Russian Economic Development Ministry’s Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects Director. He stated that both India and Russia are currently in the “final stage of internal state coordination” of starting the rule of visa-free group travel, as quoted by RT News.

In June, the consultations between Russia and India about this bilateral agreement will be initiated. Also, the final signing of this bilateral agreement will likely take place by the end of 2024. According to a Russian Minister, New Delhi in India and Moscow in Russia were discussing working on the tourism ties and building them with the introduction of visa-free group tourist exchange.

The minister shared some significant information about this important travel programme on the sidelines of Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum 2024, according to a report by NDTV. This International Economic Forum has been hosted in Kazan and is all set to continue till May 19.

Once both countries sign the bilateral agreement of visa-free group travel between Russia and India, the journeys to enter these nations will be simpler. With the implementation of the travel programme, Indians will be able to visit Russia without the mandate need to present a visa.

Before commencing the visa-free group tourist exchange programme with India, Russia has already signed this agreement with China and Iran. It was on August 1 2023 when the visa-free group travel exchange started between Russia and the other two countries.
