As the country is reeling under severe heat, rains are already lashing several parts of Kerala. As a result, red and orange alerts have been issued for several parts of the state by the India Metrological Department. Yes, according to a report by India Today, heavy rains are expected in Mallapuram, which has received a red alert.

Red Alert & Orange Alert Issued For Kerala

For Sunday, June 23, the metrological department has issued a red alert in Kozhikode, Kannur, and Wayanad. They also issued an orange alert in Ernakulam, Pakad, Malappuram, Thrissur, and Kasaragod. In case you’re wondering, the red alert indicates heavy or extremely heavy rain of over 20 cm in 24 hours. While the orange alert signifies that there is an expectation of heavy rain of 11 cm to 20 cm. It’s worth noting that the Indian capital, Delhi is also likely to receive rainfall on Sunday.

Delhi Expected To Receive Light Drizzle

This comes after people in the city have been reeling under the blistering heatwave it’s also worth noting that the national capital’s maximum temperature on June 22 was recorded at 39.4 degrees, which is a notch above normal. In fact, the minimum temperature also settled at 0.6 notches above the season’s average. On Saturday, the national capital received 4 mm of rainfall until 8:30 AM. However, the humidity fluctuated between 50% and 62%. While for today, the prediction includes generally cloudy skies with maybe a light drizzle, the maximum temperature is again expected to settle around 40°. In case you’re wondering, monsoons are expected to arrive in the capital on June 30.

Monsoon Update For Rest Of The Country

Regarding the monsoon update for the rest of the country, it should be revealed that the southwest monsoon has already passed through some places. According to the IMD, there were favourable conditions for further advancement of monsoon in some parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gangetic West Bengal Jharkhand, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and East Uttar Pradesh. In fact, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted in Konkan and Goa. Yes, besides them some regions of Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, South interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and coastal Karnataka are also expected to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on June 26.
