According to a new report by Khaleej Times, a bus carrying devotees for Umrah to Mecca met with a horrific accident on Monday, March 27. It is believed that at least 20 people on the bus were killed and around 29 were left injured, as a result. As it happens, this tragedy struck when the bus was travelling from Khamis Mushayt to Abha, in the Asir Province. Yes, it’s being reported that the accident struck at 4 pm, on the 14km-long Aqabat Shaar Road, which falls on this route.

It’s worth mentioning here, that according to Saudi Press Agency, this cuts through mountains. Yes, there are 11 tunnels and 32 bridges on the route. And the bus was making its way down one of the bridges. And it was during this descent that the bus went through a break failure! So, this caused the vehicle to crash into the barrier, overturn, and catch fire. As the news emerged about this, emergency services like the Red Crescent Authority and Saudi Civil Defence teams immediately rushed to the spot to transport the survivors to the nearby hospital.

As it happens, a video of the accident site is being widely circulated on the internet. It shows the unrecognisable condition of the mangled vehicle. Moreover, it seems that it has been stripped of its frame and the bus seems grotesquely out of os shape, leaving a bone-chilling tale about the tragedy.

The visuals surfacing from the incident look every bit terrifying and our heart goes out to the victims of the accidents. It is certainly instances like these that make us realise how fickle can life truly be.
